What it does: Your Air Conditioner (A/C) system uses refrigerant to move the heat from inside your car and push it outside. It also uses a fan, a system of ducts and vents, and in many cars, a cabin air filter to clean the air. To make the system work a compressor moves the refrigerant through the system. The compressor is powered by the engine via a serpentine belt on most conventional cars, and powered by an electric high voltage motor in most hybrid cars and in all electric vehicles. In most hybrid and all electric cars the system is reversible, and as a Heat Pump it also is the heater and defroster for the vehicle. To keep warm and cozy or cool and comfortable, it’s best to maintain your heating & air conditioning system. We provide a free inspection, and when needed we perform a complete system diagnosis.

A free inspection includes:

  • Inspecting the interior controls and blower
  • Checking radiator coolant level, hoses, pressure caps and thermostats
  • Visually inspecting the compressor, dryer, filter, and belt
  • Checking for leaks or other damage

A more complete Heating and cooling system diagnostic includes:

  • Evacuating (removing) the refrigerant from the system
  • A cooling system volume and pressure test
  • Filling the system with new refrigerant
  • Comparing the A/C pressure and volume of refrigerant to manufacturer’s specifications
  • Testing the A/C system for refrigerant leaks
  • Using dye to locate leaks if needed
  • Check the interior vent air flow and temperature
  • Checking the heater core for leaks

Why service is very important: If the system leaks refrigerant it can damage our atmosphere and it will destroy the expensive air conditioning compressor. Worn or unclean cabin air filters can negatively impact your Air Conditioner (AC) and heater performance. They can also pose allergic reactions and prospective health danger for the driver and any passengers.
